Desktop Inkjet label printers differ from common printers because they are formatted to print on self-adhesive labels, rolled stock, card stock, and tear sheet stock. They come with built-in computers and for connectivity include USB, parallel, Ethernet, RS-232 Serial, and some wireless devices.
Desktop Inkjet label printers produce short labels of high quality designed for small and medium-duty work. They don’t cost much and are less expensive. Before buying an inkjet label printer you must have a basic idea of ink and inkjet technologies. Mainly there are two types of inks named dye-based inks and pigment-based inks.
Dye-Based Inkjet Label Printers
Printers with dye-based inks are popular for their vibrant colors. These inks produce approximately full label colors with high-quality printing. These printers are far better than pigment-based laser printers.
Pigment-Based Inkjet Label Printers
Printers with pigment-based inks are used to make custom labels for individual customers. These inks dry fast so there is no problem with smudging and resist fading. But you have to compromise on high-quality print and vibrant colours as in dye-based inks.
